History OF PATIENT

Breed: cross breed of Holstein Friesian

parturated 1.5 month ago

 No milk coming from one teat while clotted milk with some

flakes was secreted from remaining three teats

 swollen udder with painful to touch

 Reduced milk production

decreased feed and water intake

Ciprofloxacin – resistant

Enrofloxacin - resistant

Chloramphenicol injection

Sig: 20 ml, IM, OD, 3 days

Vitamin E care se- 10 ml * 2 vials

Sig: 1 vial , IM, OD, on alternate day

Buffer Sachet

Sig: 1 sachet PO, BID on first day followed by 1 sachet PO, OD

Agrimin Forte- 1 kg

Sig: 40 gm PO, OD, 25 days

Inflammin ointment, massage in udder thrice daily

Case Discussion on Mastitis

Inflammation of the parenchyma of the mammary gland regardless of

the cause

 Characterized by physical, chemical and bacteriological changes in the

milk and pathological changes in the glandular tissue.

 Most new infections occur in dry period and in early

lactation.

Selenium and vitamin E status influence incidence of

clinical mastitis.
