Design of FIR Filters: Windowing Technique, Cheat Sheet of Electrical Engineering

A basic introduction to the design of finite impulse response (fir) filters, focusing on the windowing technique. It explains the concept of fir filters, their characteristics, and the process of designing them using the windowing method. The document also includes a brief discussion of the ideal low-pass filter and its transformation into a practical fir filter through windowing.

  • It can be shown that if we have a linear-phase ideal filter and we

multiply it by a symmetric window function, we end up with a linear-

phase FIR filter.
