Extracurricular activities are united with students in all levels. It may bring fun, excitement and new learnings that could not be learned inside the four corners of the room. This extracurricular activities can be any social events in a school which includes student council, school publication and even sports. Some researchers indicates that participation in extracurricular activities affects students’ academic performance. According to a 1993 article by Alexander Astin, almost any type of student involvement in college positively affects student learning and development. This research study aims to state both positive and negative effects that would be observed from some students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. This study would also differentiate a student who loves participating to the said activities specifically a senior varsity player to a student who prefer not to join any non-academic activities specifically a Fourth Year Engineering student.
