Name: Algebra Il Per: Week #36: June 1— June § Objectives: The students will learn that to find the probability of two events occurring together, it is necessary to determine whether the occurrence of one event affects the probability that the other event will occur, as well as how to determine independent events and dependent events. If A and B are independent events, then P(A and B) = P(A) -P(B). For any two events A and B, the probability that either A or B occurs, P(A or B), is given in the equation P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) — P(A and B). The siudents will also learn that a conditional probability is the probability that one event occurs, given that another event has occurred. For two events A and B, the conditional probability that B will occur, given that A has accurred, is written P(BIA).
