The fall 2008 enee 204 homework assignment #8 for the electrical engineering course. The assignment includes problems on using kirchhoff's voltage and current laws (kvl and kcl) and mesh analysis to find currents and voltages in circuits with dependent sources. It also includes problems on finding the gain of a bjt common emitter amplifier and analyzing an op-amp circuit using the principle of virtual short.

ENEE 204 Fall 2008 HW #8 Due: In class on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 Problem 1: Using KVL and KCL with dependent source. Consider the circuit above. The current controlled current source depends on i1, the current on the left branch. Using KVL and KCL, find the currents on all the resistors as well as the voltages across each resistor. Problem 2. Mesh Analysis with Dependent Source Same circuit as in Problem1. Now solve it using Mesh analysis. Find the currents and voltages on all resistors. Problem 3. Mesh Analysis with dependent source Find the voltage v (across terminal A and B) for the circuit below. Note that the dependent source is a current controlled voltage source. Problem 4: Nodal Analysis with 2 dependent sources Find the voltage v (across terminal A and B) for the circuit below.
Problem 5: Rederiving the gain of the BJT Common Emitter Amplifier. Using either KCL/KVL, Nodal or Mesh Analysis, show that the gain =Vout/Vin = -RE/RC in the limit that (beta in circuit) is very large. Problem 6. In the op-amp circuit below, ignore the other pins except (2,3 and 6). Assume that the op-amp is ideal, pay no attention to the IC- label. Use the principle of virtual short to find vout when a. V1=1V and V2= b. V1=1V and V3= I want you to solve the circuits, rather than substitute formulas. Problem 7. As before, ignore extra pins. Using principle of virtual short, show that
b. In the limit of R 1^ ^ ,^ R 2 ^0 what is the gain and what do we gain out of this circuit?
