1. Why is it important in the bar operation to have a daily cleaning checklist? - The safety of customers and staff will always be ensured by a thorough bar cleaning checklist. A bar cleaning checklist guarantees that business will run efficiently, that it’ll follow health and safety regulations, and that it’ll maintain a positive customer experience. As the owner, if you were in your customers' position for a moment, how would you feel? You wouldn't want to consume your beverage from a filthy glass, and you would most definitely avoid sitting near a bar where the remains of previous patrons' snacks and drinks were all over your clothes. It's crucial for the bar staff to begin cleaning and organizing the bar at the beginning of the day to guarantee that it is clean and ready for customers. The cleansing process doesn't finish there, though. A bartender cleaning checklist makes ensuring staff members complete several important chores during bar opening hours, daily operations, bar closing, and on a weekly basis. All of these reminders assist in making sure that the bar has what it requires to operate at its best both now and in the future. 2. Search and identify at least 15 bar tools and equipment and provide its functions. ● Bar Mats Bar mats are mainly used to prevent spills and any ingredients from flying off the bar and onto the floor. Made from rubber, they grip on to any glassware and bartending tools you are using while crafting a drink. ● Wine Key Wine keys are designed for a couple different things. The obvious answer is that they’re your go-to when you need to open corked bottles of wine. But they can also be used to snap open beer bottles. You may have seen a “winged” wine opener at your parents house, but wine keys are more efficient and slightly cheaper. ● Jigger The jigger is the ultimate measuring device. Jiggers are used to accurately measure fluid ounces. They keep your drink proportions balanced and consistent. ● Hawthorne Strainer
Hawthorne strainers are used for straining shaken cocktails and they work perfectly with your common boston shaker. They prevent pulp, mashed up fruit, and crushed ice from getting into the drink you are building. ● Bar Spoons Bar spoons are longer than your typical bulky table spoon and are used for cocktails that need a simple stir. Use them as your stirring tool or to spoon in ingredients like sugar or angostura bitters. ● Muddler Muddlers are made from either wood, metal, or plastic. Muddlers are strictly used to smash and crush fruits, herbs, and veggies – which in return expunges their juices, essential oils, and flavors. ● Champagne Stopper It is made of stainless steel, it is basically used to seal the champagne bottle immediately after it is opened, it creates a tight seal on the bottle. The seal gets tighter as the gas from the wine pushes against it. ● Boston Shaker The Boston Shaker can be used for shaking or stirring a cocktail. ● Fine/Tea Strainer When straining, unfortunately, the Hawthorne strainer won’t get everything. Therefore, double straining using a fine/tea strainer is often necessary to prevent the more refined pulp, seeds, ice shards, etc., from getting into the final glass. ● Fruit/Juice Press It makes getting fresh juice out of citrus (lemons, limes, oranges, etc.) and other fruits extremely easy.
