OVERVIEW OF CASPER SNAPSHOT With COVID-19 disrupting much of higher education, Altus Assessments wants to support both applicants and our partner programs with the addition of Casper Snapshot: a short video response tool. Given the current limitations on travel, we suspect many programs will be moving to virtual interviews and interactions for this upcoming admissions cycle. Snapshot is a great way for them to learn more about you. Casper Snapshot will be offered to all Casper Test test takers in August 2020 for the duration of the 2020/2021 admissions cycle. Casper Snapshot is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your personal attributes to the programs you are applying to - especially during this time where face to face communication is difficult. This will help give the programs you're applying to additional information to make more informed decisions on your application and who you are as an individual. Depending on when in the admissions process they review your Snapshot, it could also help increase your chances of landing an interview spot!
KNOWING WHEN TO COMPLETE CASPER SNAPSHOT There is no set time and place that you are required to complete Snapshot — you are able to complete it at your leisure before, or after you sit the Casper test. If you would like your responses to be considered in your application we recommend that you complete before the distribution deadlines stated for the schools on your Casper Test. If the Casper Test / distribution deadline has passed for your program(s) and you have not yet taken Casper Snapshot, your application will not be considered incomplete, but please complete it as soon as possible Where should I take Snapshot? Just like the Casper Test, you are able to take Snapshot from whatever location you want as long as you have a reliable internet connection. Since Snapshot draws on audio/video recordings and is meant to mimic an interview, we highly recommend you ensure Snapshot is taken with an appropriate background if visible, and that your face is centered directly within the view of your video, as well as facing the camera at all times to ensure clear audio recording.
PREPARING FOR AND COMPLETING CASPER SNAPSHOT Is there a fee to complete Casper Snapshot? No. There is no additional fee to applicants to use Casper Snapshot during this admissions cycle. We are also looking for feedback on your overall experience in order to ensure we are offering you the best opportunities to present yourself to your chosen programs. How do I prepare for Casper Snapshot? Preparing for Casper Snapshot is easy. You will be asked to complete Casper Snapshot before or after your Casper Test by logging into your TakeCasper account. Ensure your internet, device audio, and video is working and reliable. You will want to take into account your appearance and background, as this is an audio/video recording. Can I practice taking Snapshot? There will be two practice questions available that mimic the formal Snapshot questions almost exactly so that you can familiarize yourself with the format of Snapshot. Practice answering questions and playback your responses so that you can ensure your audio and video is clear.
PROGRAMS REVIEWING YOUR CASPER SNAPSHOT Which programs will see my Casper Snapshot responses? All programs you add to your Casper Test distribution list will have access to your Casper Snapshot responses. However, this does not mean all of those programs will be using Casper Snapshot for admissions decisions. One program may decide they do not want to review Casper Snapshot, while another program may decide they do want to review Snapshot as part of their admissions process this cycle. How will schools use my responses? How and when each school uses Snapshot in their decision-making process is ultimately up to them. Each program will evaluate your responses using its own admissions process. ACCOMMODATION REQUESTS We strive to provide a Casper Snapshot that is accessible to every applicant. All accommodation requests are processed on a case-by- case basis by the Casper team, and because of this, we require that requests be submitted at least 1 week prior to the time you plan to take Casper Snapshot. This provides time for us to review your request and make a decision on the appropriate testing accommodation. Applicants in these circumstances are encouraged to reach out to the Casper support team about their accommodations needs as soon as possible and ask for more information. Some examples of available accommodations for Casper are: ‣ Extended time ‣ Assistive personnel (i.e. scribe and/or reader)
To make Casper accommodations requests or get additional information on how to submit an accommodations request, please email our support team at [email protected], or request a link from the Casper support team where they can be uploaded to a secure encrypted folder. Please note: All accommodation related forms and documents submitted are strictly confidential, and will only be used to inform accommodation decisions for the Casper Test. Accommodation statuses will not be shared with the academic program(s) or any Casper rater(s). TECHNOLOGY ISSUES What if I experience technical difficulties? Our applicant support team will be available to help you through the process of completing Snapshot should you experience any technical issues. If for some reason your responses were corrupted or there is some reason you need a retake, after our team has reviewed your video responses, we will happily reset your Snapshot so you can try again once any issues have been solved. What if I am unhappy with my Snapshot responses? Once you complete your Snapshot you cannot retake it unless you experienced technical problems while completing Snapshot and your responses were not saved correctly. We encourage applicants to use the practice question to prepare and become familiar with the format of Snapshot so they can enter into the formal Snapshot with confidence. If you have additional questions, please visit the Casper support page.
