▲ What is Communication?

The word communication comes from the Latin word communicare which means to share, to import or to commute. Its literal meaning is to giving information. The Oxford Dictionary defined, communication is the action of exchanging information and ideas. Communication is an interactive process that involves the effective transmission of facts, ideas, thoughts, feeling and values. According to Keith Davis: communication is the transfer of information and understanding from person to another person.it is way of reaching others with facts, ideas, thoughts and values. Communication is the two way process of sending and receiving massages.

▲ Basics of Communications.

In an academic environment we face various situations which involves speech or writing. We have to converse with friends, professors or colleagues. We have to participate in seminars, group discussions and written test sometimes we have to submits reports on diverse topics at the colleges and universities. Likewise, at the workplace we interact with superiors and sub coordinates, read and write e-mails, letters, reports and proposals. All the above mentioned activities have a common denominator that is sharing of information. This process involves the transmission and interchange of ideas, facts, feeling, feelings, thoughts or force of action. No organization in the world can survive without communication. The better our communication skills, the greater are our chances of quick progress however on maybe in other aspects as work knowledge and thoughts without proper communications, those are of little use.

▲ Objectives and Characteristics of Communication.

Usually there are following technical objectives.

(1): To provide organized information that aids in quick decision making.

(2): To invite corporate joint venture.

(3): To pass in knowledge in oral or written form.
