Communication means sharing of information. It comes from the Latin word 'communicare' meaning 'to share'. The main
purpose is to convey a message clearly between sender and receiver.

4. Receiver - person who receives
5. Feedback - response from receiver

a) Verbal: Speaking (oral), Writing (letters, emails)

c) Visual: Posters, charts, signs, symbols

Sender -> Encoding -> Message -> Channel -> Receiver -> Decoding -> Feedback

Clear, Concise, Concrete, Correct, Coherent, Complete, Courteous
6. Barriers to Communication:
1. Physical - Noise, distance
2. Linguistic - Language, slang
3. Interpersonal - Attitude
4. Organisational - Structure, rules
5. Cultural - Traditions and beliefs
7. Ways to Overcome Barriers:
Use simple language, visuals, respect others, avoid assumptions, use translators
