MEASUREMENT
When referring to computers, a Measurement is the process of determining a dimension, capacity, or
quantity of an object or the duration of a task.
Measurements tell us if an object will fit an area, a storage medium can hold the necessary files, a task will
complete in time, or how fast a product is.
A bit (b) is the smallest unit of data in computer processing.
Computer storage and memory is often measured in Byte (B)
A Byte (B) is a group of eight (8) bits / 1 byte = 8 bits
A Kilobyte (KB) is about 1,024 Byte (B), / 1KB = 1,024 Bytes (B)
A Megabyte (MB) is about 1,024 (KB), 1 (MB) = 1,024 (KB)
Or you can say 1 MB is 1,024 kilobytes, or (1024x1024) 1,048,576 Bytes.
A Gigabyte (GB) is also about 1,024 Megabytes (MB), / 1 GB = 1,024 MB
Or you can say 1 GB is 1,024 Megabytes (MB), or (1024x1024) 1,048,576 Kilobytes (KB) or
(1024x1024x1024) 1,073,741,824 bytes
A Terabyte (TB) is 1,024 Gigabyte (GB) / 1 (TB) = 1,024 GB
Or 1 TB is 1,024 Gigabyte (GB), or (1024x1024) 1,048,576 Megabytes (MB) or (1024x1024x1024)
1,073,741,824 Kilobytes (KB), or (1024x1024x1024x1024) 1,099,511,627,776 bytes

MEASUREMENT

When referring to computers, a Measurement is the process of determining a dimension , capacity , or quantity of an object or^ the duration^ of a task. Measurements tell us if an object will fit an area, a storage medium can hold the necessary files, a task will complete in time, or how fast a product is. A bit (b) is the smallest unit of data in computer processing.

Computer storage and memory is often measured in Byte (B)

  • A Byte (B) is a group of eight (8) bits / 1 byte = 8 bits
  • A Kilobyte (KB) is about 1,024 Byte (B), / 1KB = 1,024 Bytes (B)
