What is Contemporary Art Forms?
Contemporary art is the art of today, produced in the
half of the 20th century or in the 21st century.
Contemporary artists work in a globally influenced,
culturally diverse and technologically advancing
world.

COLLAGE
Collage is the method of combining printed images
with other flat media and posted on a canvas or
board.
The term “collage” comes from the French word
colles, or “to glue.”
Jay Cabalu
Jay Cabalu is a Filipino-Canadian collage artist,
discovered magazines and comic books at a
young age after his family immigrated to
Canada in 1991.
ASSEMBLAGE
Assemblage is a term used by French artist Jean
Dubuffet in 1952 to describe a series of artworks
made from paper collages, wood scraps, and other
found objects.

MOBILE
Mobile is a sculptural work that is suspended from
the ceiling or a protruding base. It is typically made
with a number of balancing rods dangling in different
lengths carrying one or more elements.

INSTALLATION
Installation Art is a form of contemporary art that
involves the arrangement of objects in a given space.
It incorporates different materials that may include
traditional sculptural materials such as wood, metal
and different objects as well as technology based
mediums such as light, sound, videos and digital
media.

Found Objects
Found Object art (also called “objet trouvé”) uses
ordinary or discarded materials — such as bottles,
wood scraps, or metal parts — and transforms them
into artworks.
Large Scale
Large-scale art refers to big artworks that often cover
large spaces — they can be murals, installations, or
public sculptures
