CREATININE CLEARANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Your physician has ordered a creatinine clearance. This test requires a 24-hour urine
collection and a blood sample. The Lab has provided a container for storing the urine
during the collection period. This container should be
refrigerated
at all times during the
collection. When the urine sample is delivered to the Lab, a blood sample will be drawn.
Patient Collection Instructions:
1. Empty your bladder completely before beginning the collection. Discard urine.
2. Note the date and time and determine the ending time (24 hours later).
3. Collect all urine during this time period. Keep refrigerated during collection.
4. At the ending time, empty your bladder and add this urine to the container.
5. Take sample, doctor’s order and this instruction sheet with collection times noted on
back as soon as possible to any of our locations. Please check in and register. You will
be seen by a Lab care partner who will review your specimen and order before you
leave. (holiday/weekend hours may vary)
