D115 Reflection Summary Phase 3
After reviewing my synthesis on urinary tract infections with a self-assessment and
feedback from a health professional, I updated it and asked a friend to look at it. He
provided feedback that mostly consisted of grammar. He felt it was very easy to
understand, but some word changes would be helpful.
He didn’t have any questions and felt informed sufficiently to understand if he or
someone he knew had symptoms of a urinary tract infection. He had heard about
UTIs and how they could be very painful and could be dangerous if traveling to the
kidneys. He knew quite a bit already, and the synthesis filled in some gaps. He
didn’t realize that women were more susceptible because of the distance bacteria
had to travel through the urethra. He also wasn’t aware that men with BPH had a
higher risk of UTIs.
This experience was very helpful in preparing me to provide clear, concise
information that was meaningful to patients. It also helped me assemble the
information to share it with other professionals.
