Q1 (a) Briefly describe what you understand by the following system concepts:
- Decomposition
- Modularity
- Coupling
- Cohesion 10 marks
(b) Describe, in detail and giving examples where appropriate, the four main steps of the Systems Development Lifecycle. 23 marks Total: 33 marks
Q2 Describe, in detail and using examples where appropriate, how Gantt Charts and Network Diagrams can be used to document project plans. In your answer you should clearly describe the differences between the two techniques as well as describing the strengths and weaknesses of each. 33 marks
Q3 The process of moving from the current information system to the new information system within an organisation is called Installation. Describe, in detail, the different approaches that can be taken to install a new system. As well as describing the different approaches, you should also discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each approach. 33 marks
Q4 (a) Data modelling remains a critical activity in requirements determination. Briefly describe the process of constructing a fully attributed data model. 9 marks
(b) What is wrong with each of the following entity relationship models? In your answer explain your logic for re-drawing each data model. Note that the narratives associated with each model are the precise and accurate descriptions of each case.
