What makes it possible for you to still identify the image, even if it has been assembled in misaligned way? Analysis 10 mins. (Partners)

  1. Students will read pages 208-211 of the Arts Grade 10 Learner’s Material and read about the art movement known as abstractionism.
  2. Based on the reading, students will make a comparison between expressionist art and abstract art through a Venn Diagram.
  3. They will create their work in a whole bondpaper.
  4. They will do this activity by pair. After this, the teacher will call on pairs who will explain how abstract art is similar to expressionist art and how it is different from expressionist art through their Venn Diagram. Abstraction 10 mins. To Discuss the Concept Using a power point presentation, discussion of the characteristics and examples of following abstractionism will be done:

  • Non-objectivism Application 15 mins. In 1/4 sheet of paper. Identify whether the picture flashed onscreen is an example of Expressionism or Abstractionism. (This can be done through PowerPoint presentation or Flash cards.)
