The fact that too many open-ended questions should not be included in a survey is because most people tend to ignore and not answer open-ended questions or give a superficial yes. Surveys are generally an inconvenience for most survey respondents. There are a lot of people who take the time to answer them unless it is absolutely necessary or there is a good reason to answer an open- ended question. Another reason to skip open-ended questions is because they add a lot of work to the respondent, making the survey lengthy. This can increase survey dropout rates.
