EQUIVALENT BUSINESS SUCCESS

Executive summary This current report sheds light on the recent condition of the Sunny-Hope Social Care Home. This firm has faced severe employee dropout and the senior leadership team has found the reason for it as ineffective teamwork. The report describes the definition and importance of effective team culture and recommends strategies to the management for improvement of the quality of the service. This stated report is focused on the effectiveness of teamwork in the matter of health and social care of the Sunny-hope social care home. There are various types of approaches, theories, and models to understand the impact of teamwork regarding this purpose. An effective and possible recommendation is discussed that helps the senior leadership team to create such strategies by which the team can work in a more disciplined and balanced way.

Introduction Effective teamwork is one of the important and crucial parts of a superior health and social care system. Health and social care settings demand lots of attention from the customers as they are seen to be in the most vulnerable situation. In Sunny-Hope Social Care Home, poor teamwork among the staff has led to major employee dropout. This has led to a dependency on the agency staffs, which has lowered the quality of service of the given firm. Overview of Team working Definition of a team A team can be defined as the collaboration of a group of people with mutual support, different skillets and tasks for a common job or project. According to Peralta et al. (2018), all of the team members are aligned to the goal of an effective team, and they prioritize the utmost benefit of it. Factors of effective teamwork Effective teamwork is based on several factors, which increase its efficiency and quality of performance. The main factors of effective teamwork are- Communication Communication is one of the important factors of effective teamwork. All the team members can openly communicate in a cohesive group (Buchan, MacDonell and Yang, 2019). The senior leadership team gas to listen first about the conflicts and problems among the staff members and act according to it. Representativeness Effective teams can represent the culture of the organisation very well. In this current firm, the lack of communication has restricted the knowledge of the employees about one another. According to Salas, Reyes and McDaniel (2018), this has led to poor job allocation as well as performance. Quality A strong and well-bonded team has the capabilities to bring out the best work from the team members. In the given firm, poor team management has decreased the overall quality of service. This poor performance of the firm has also led to employee turnover.

On the other hand, lack of trust and dependency has led the organisation to fall apart. Creative Ideas A strong team can also evoke great ideas from its team members. The senior leadership team may have not given the chances to the team members to express their ideas about the job.

This concerned care team aims to provide care for the patient and it helps the patient to recover from the chronic diseases. This specific model is mainly designed for the medical practitioner, health, and social care professionals to understand the way of treatment and how it can be provided for the patients. Justification of a model of team development The concerned model is used in Sunny-hope health care home to understand what the activity of the health care team regarding the patient’s health are matters and the way by which care, and treatment are provided by the medical professionals and the concerned team. As stated by Bashan and Holsblat (2017), In the matter of health issues care is very much important for the patient. Sometimes it is noticed that there is a lack of coordination and care in the health sector. It can cause a serious issue for the patients. The medical team has to follow such types of models for a better understanding of the team activity for this matter.

Types of roles that are needed to create a cohesive and effective team Identification of team roles The senior leadership team of the mentioned health care home should be responsible as per the professional requirements. As suggested by Connaughton et al. (2019), roles and responsibilities are defined by the management team to create an effective team. As suggested by Nelson et al. (2017), roles of a team are based on these starting factors regarding the health and social care for this mentioned health care home. It is advised for the leadership team of the concerned home to follow such types of strategic rules to build up an efficient team for the patient. All factors that are stated in the picture must be included in the team to make it effective. Theories of team roles The theory that is important for this concerning matter is Belbin's theory as it suggests the team's role in the matter of health and social care. The leadership team of the specific health care home should focus on such types of relevant models to understand the implication of team development and performance in the matter of the health issues.

Discussion Advantages of effective team working Effective teamwork can benefit the workplace largely. In an effective team, all team members can rely on the leader as well as express their autonomous thought in action. Successful team management can also increase employee engagement and satisfaction. The senior leadership team has to focus on these factors to create a strong work culture among the organisations. On the other hand, great teamwork promotes a positive environment around the facility, which helps the patients and beneficiaries be comfortable and healthy. According to Lacerenza et al. (2018), the mentioned firm has to promote this factor to increase familiarity among the employees. Quality of teamwork is also very much linked with group cohesiveness of the mentioned company. Representativeness also allows the team members to know the strengths and weaknesses of each other. Effective teamwork can increase the creativity and learning of the employees of the mentioned company. The neglect of the senior leadership team led to employee dissatisfaction and unproductiveness of the overall firm. The support mechanism can help the employees of the mentioned industry to improve in their job also. On the other hand, the employees of the current firm can easily resolve their conflict if the senior leadership team has increased communication and interaction among the employees. Impact of effective teamwork in a health and social care setting In the health care sector, the importance of effective teamwork has led to several impacts. The concerned firm provides healthcare and social support for the needful. Strong and cohesive bonding among the employees can decrease the budget of the firm by releasing the hired agency staff. Before the recruitment, the senior leadership team can analyse the following impacts of effective teamwork on the mentioned firm. Improvement of the overall health of the patients In the healthcare industry, the overall wellbeing of the patient can be an important result of effective teamwork. The mentioned company has to focus on building trusts and dependency among the caregivers and doctors to achieve maximum wellbeing of the patients. According to Shuffler and Carter (2018), patients can feel better if they are provided with proper care and medication. On the other hand, this will also help the patients to stabilize their psychological health. In this way, the team will make fewer mistakes and the quality of the service will increase overall.

The satisfaction of the employees One of the major concerns of the mentioned company is employee dropout. Effective team management can decrease this crisis and change the entire organisational culture of this company. On the other hand, this will satisfy the patients and the consumers also. According to Schmutz, Meier and Manser (2019), the patients can experience less stress if the employees can fulfil their allocated work and help each other in-group projects. Apart from that, if the team members can easily communicate with each other, they can have greater clarity about their job role and work ethics. In this way, the newly hired employees can become an important asset to the mentioned firm.

Recommendation After analyzing all the facts, it can be recommended that, the concerned health care home should be focused on the importance of teamwork and activity for the health and social care purpose. The senior leadership team of this health care home should work by the rules and can take the responsibility to make effective teamwork. They have to clarify the purpose of the work to the team members. Coordination is needed to work more strategically. Management team has to establish the rules and regulations by which the team members can work in an organized way. It is important to give the freedom of communication among the team members as they can exchange their thoughts and perspective with each other. Management support is an important matter to create an effective team. The senior leadership team has to be worked with more strategically by following various relevant strategies and models for the team development.
