An overview of the concept of ecosystem, its components, and the different types of ecosystems. It also discusses the factors affecting the environment, including natural and man-made factors, and the concept of environmental pollution. The document emphasizes the importance of environmental conservation and the role of individuals in preserving the environment. It also covers the concept of biodiversity, its different levels, and the identification of biodiversity hotspots, endangered, rare, vulnerable, and indeterminate species. The document highlights the need for a positive attitude towards the environment and the involvement of various organizations in environmental conservation efforts.

Ecosystem is the interactions between Biotic and Abiotic
components.
Two types of components:-
Biotic components:- Consists of living organisms.
Abiotic components:- Consists of non-living part of ecosystem.
Ecosystem is the basic unit of Ecology.

All physical, chemical and biological factors affecting the living
organisms are collectively called as Environment.
Environment consists of many ecosystems.
A small pond is a small ecosystem while Earth is largest ecosystem.
Factors affecting the Environment:-
Natural factors:- Earthquakes,flood,tsunami,volacanoes,forest fire
Man-made factors:- Deforestation, hunting , poaching , pollution
Environmental balance is maintained through various natural cycles &
also with the food chains in an Ecosystem.
At present , many environmental problems have been arisen due to
effect of various natural and artificial factors.
Environmental pollution is one of those factors. Unneccesary and
unacceptable change in surrounding environment due to natural
events or human activities is called as Environmental pollution.
Population explosion, fast industrializtion , indiscriminant use of
natural resources, deforestation, unplanned urbanization these are
some factors responsible for Environmental pollution
Various types of pollution like Air,Water,Sound,Soil,Thermal,Light and
also radioactive pollution causes Environmental pollution.
For living satisfactory life, human kept on snatching from nature and
this disturbed the Environmental Balance.
Biodiversity is the richness of living organisms in
nature due to presence of various
organisms,ecosystems & genetic variations in
species.
Biodiversity occurs in three different levels:-
range of different inherited traits within a species.
number and relative abundance of species found in
a given biological organisation
deals with the variations in ecosystems within a
geographical location and its overall impact on
human existence and the environment.

Conservation:-
Conserving the

sources.
The species considered to be facing a very high risk of
extinction in the wild.
Number of these oraganisms is declined or their habitat is shrunk to
extent such that they can be ectinct in future if conservative
measures aren’t apply.
Ex.,
Giant Panda
Lion tailed Macaque Rhinoceros
A rare species is a group of organisms that are very uncommon,
scarce, or infrequently encountered.
Number of these organisms is considerably declined.
Ex.,
Red Panda
Musk Deer
The Indeterminate species are those species which are considered
under the category of threatened species.
Such species are defined under the IUCN red book data as the species
which are under the threat.
These organisms appear to be endangered due to their behaviour like
shyness
