Group Assignment Report, Schemes and Mind Maps of Management Fundamentals

This group project is designed to help students develop their critical thinking and analysis skills in the context of real-world management issues. Students will analyze a management topic in groups by selecting a company and developing recommendations for how the company can address the issue. The report should include a prefatory section with a title page, acknowledgement, abstract/executive summary, table of contents, and list of figures and tables. The body of the report should present a logical argument that supports the main theme or proposition, with references to relevant theories and concepts. The supplemental section should include a references list and appendices. The report will be evaluated based on criteria such as the identification of main issues/problems, discussion of issues, relation to theories/concepts, provision of appropriate solutions, and writing skills.

You will analyse a management topic in groups by selecting a company and developing recommendations for how the company can address the issue. Management Topics: To complete your group assignment, your group will be randomly assigned a specific management topic to analyze. Once the topics are known, choose a company that is presently experiencing a management issue related to that topic. Investigate the problem thoroughly and identify the company's key issues and challenges as a consequence of this problem. Specifically, your groups will be assigned one of the following topics:

  1. Corporate-level strategy/Business-level strategy (Chapter 3)
  2. Decision making (Chapter 4)
  3. Organization structure and design (Chapter 6)
  4. Human resources management (Chapter 8 )
  5. Motivation (Chapter 1 0 )
  6. Leadership (Chapter 11)
  7. Operational efficiency or productivity (Chapter 14 & 15) Important:
  • Sources of information must be consistently and comprehensively referenced throughout the report.
  • At least six high quality professional, company or media sources should be used.
  • It is not sufficient just to repeat information from single sources such as, book, journal.
  • Plagiarism is taken very seriously in this course. To avoid plagiarism, you should first

  • In addition to secondary research, it is recommended that you should conduct an interview with a middle- or upper-level manager of the chosen company in order to get more insights about his/her company and issues/problems facing. The interviewee’s opinions/ideas should be mentioned/reported in the report. **Referencing:
  1. Papers with incorrect referencing will receive no more than a 6.0 grade**
  2. Papers with no citations will receive no more than a 4.5 grade.
  3. Papers with no in-text citations or no reference list at the end of the assignment will receive no more than a 4.5 grade.
  4. You must make reference to at least 6 sources.
  5. Any referencing styles are accepted. However, be consistent throughout the paper!
  6. Footnotes must not be used as a referencing style.
  7. Wikipedia is not to be used as a reference. Format:

  9. Font: Times New Roman, Size: 11
  10. File should be saved as PDF and submitted to LMS. REPORT STRUCTURE: In general, following points are to be noted in preparing your report: Prefatory Section
  11. This states information that identifies and introduces the report to the reader. It tells the reader what to expect. Five common parts of the prefatory section are:
  • Title Page
  • Acknowledgement
  • Abstract/Executive Summary
  • Table of Contents
  • List of Figures and Tables

General points about the report

  1. You can use headings, but use them sparingly. Headings only add value if they assist the reader in following the logical argument.
  2. Poor spelling and grammar detract from your ability to build an argument. CHECK BOTH GRAMMAR AND SPELLING THOUROUGHLY.
