Difference between Long-run

self-interest and Short-run

self-interest

→ Long-term self-interest means the pursuit of outcomes that will benefit the self in the long run. → Short-term self-interest means sacrificing today negatively by many so the few can enrich themselves.

FOR EXAMPLE An investor is aware of an opportunity to invest in a manufacture products using environmental damaging

process. → The factory causes pollution in the
surrounding area
→ Do harm to environment and health of local community.

environment.
