Are entrepreneurs born or made? Critically discuss.

The question “Are entrepreneurs born or made?” has been an interrogative controversy for long as both opposite propositions are supported by a myriad of scientific theories. Regardless of the endless confusions, my standpoint is that entrepreneurs are educatedly formed. This essay will attempt to critically discuss the authenticity of both views before justifying my opinion. The first part is to identify how entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship are genuinely understood, followed by numerous evidence supporting the main thesis of made entrepreneurs. The third part is to deliver the counter-argument that entrepreneurs can be genetically advantageous and its responses. Finally, in conclusion, I will condense all the information that emphasizes my stance. An entrepreneur is described as a person who is prompted to start a business on their own initiative in order to succeed. They are in charge of gathering all of the resources needed to fund the firm, as well as taking on any risks that may arise (Burch, 1986). To be more specific, according to scholarly research, every threat is vital to evaluate while planning to establish a business. Being an entrepreneur means being ready to examine these risks and determine whether to take risks or not. Entrepreneurship refers to the process of starting a business and this has been one of the biggest concerns for several reasons. Entrepreneurs play a key role in both the economy and society's well-being. An entrepreneur is an innovator with fresh business ideas, products, and services which contribute to the growth of a country's economy while also creating job opportunities. Initially, the first backbone of this paper is to accurately define the authenticity of made entrepreneurs. Made entrepreneurs are understood as businessmen who have been influenced by external factors, such as family background, education, work experience, etc. This kind of entrepreneur can learn at schools or be self-made to bring off wealth and high status. By attending colleges, business learners can obtain tons of benefits from education. University curriculums propound entrepreneurship conception, cultivating necessary skills, and promoting entrepreneurial orientations

assignments that require academic skills and heavy workload, students are prepared to work hard to accomplish the best final results no matter how hard the task is. In contrast, born entrepreneurs also possess some strong aspects. Born entrepreneurs are believed to deliver genetic influence and innate drive to be successful. They have the inborn ability, certain characteristics and personality traits to learn things faster than others. Like formed entrepreneurs, many famous people have obtained wealth and high status through their genetic interest. To illustrate, Peter Cashmore, the creator of the prominent website Mashable, did not go to college either. When he was still at highschool, he began severalls business projects and he dropped out of college because of authority’s disagreement. Furthermore, Richard Branson also failed from school when he was young. However, he soon showed the innate abilities to predict commercial trends and finally succeeded in his present business work. Nevertheless, there has been a myriad of counter-arguments to take into consideration. Born entrepreneurs are also proven to easily achieve greater success. Genetic strengths aid in the acquisition of required skills, the formulation of an organizational goal and an efficient plan for achieving it, and the implementation of the vision in reality ( Kirkpatick, 1991). Entrepreneurial ability is innate, and entrepreneurial talents cannot be taught (Alan Jacobowitz, 1980). After questioning nearly 500 entrepreneurs over a three-year period, Alan observed that they share a set of character qualities. He came to the conclusion that entrepreneurs are born, not formed. The idea that entrepreneurship is inherent has been supported by research. According to one poll, just 1% of entrepreneurs claimed that higher education influenced their entrepreneurial attitude, whereas 61% cited their natural drive (Alan Gannet, 2012). Responding to this, a new question has been sparked that can be relevant: “Why should anybody pay for education if they are born with entrepreneurial skills?”. Leadership abilities are innate, and they can only be enhanced by education and experience. A skill may be inherited by anybody, but sharpening it takes time and real-life experience. Without training, one cannot achieve tremendous success in today's fast-paced world (Arijit Dutta, 2017). Also, scholar research has indicated that educated entrepreneurs make up the most for social development and economic

prosperity. As the business world needs innovations which are both sustainable and beneficial, in this case studying and experiences are more certain that innate drive. Start-ups entrepreneurs thoroughly conduct research on the project they desire to establish, well prepared for back-up plans before joining the market. These techniques can be taught and sharpened through practicing rather than being born with it (Vineet Arya, 2018). In conclusion, many of the characteristics that entrepreneurs require are said to be innate while others argue that none of these characteristics are inherited but all created throughout childhood and the environment in which a person is raised. The combination of these two forces is also not rare, entrepreneurial characteristics and behaviors are the consequence of a complex interaction between inborn traits and extrinsic influences. However, entrepreneurs, in my opinion, who are made with education and professional knowledge will gain greater success and nothing called genetic advantages can achieve the same. To re-emphasize, in the old days entrepreneurs are believed to be born but modern entrepreneurs are actually made, and even more strong and stable. Leadership is available and ready for anyone who is willing to learn new things and working hard on their entrepreneurial path. Reference Alan Gannet (2012). Entrepreneurs are Born.
