1. identify and describe a great manager. What makes him or her stand out from the
crowd?
In my own opinion, a manager has a heavy responsibility to take and for me, a great
manager is someone who leads his/her members not just by dictating what they are tasked to
do but to help them find their drive to work and eagerness to do the job because creating a good
company culture has a huge difference rather than letting the employees feel unrewarded from
hard work. Perhaps, strengthening their reason why they want to work for the company in the
first place is a good start for them to stay longer, thrive, and prosper together with the
organization. Therefore, one should communicate and become supportive of everyone no
matter what the role or its position in the industry. And that what makes him/her stand out. A
manager who lookouts, values teamwork, and controlling.
2. Have you ever seen or worked for an ineffective manager? Describe the causes and
the consequences of the ineffectiveness.
Yes. There's this woman in a small restaurant, which I assumed was the manager, me
and my family went inside and ordered something to eat. Minutes later, we had a problem with
the money and discussed it with the manager. Then afterward, she became arrogant and
agitated about us for some reason. And the next thing I knew, she was already shouting.
With that narrative, I think the manager becoming arrogant made a huge disturbance,
especially to the customers sitting near us and to the passersby. Such actions make people
perceive that this manager is unprofessional and incapable of handling the situation. These may
affect the restaurants' sales since the scene they've witnessed, somehow, made them scared to
go back. As well as the salary of the employees would also be affected, assuming that they had
no customers dining in. On the other hand, I think what caused her to act differently to the
incident is that she was busy doing something else, and the interruption due to the "money"
problem made her upset.
