Daniel Kim This is a visualizer that uses data from instant messaging clients. The visualizer can display data from one conversation on one day, to multiple days, or even years, depending on the stored archives of the messages. This example shows few days worth of messages. There are two separate lines, each representing a user on the instant messaging client. The white dot at the top of each line represents the beginning of the data or the conversation. The conversations continue downward, as seen with the arrows at the bottom and to the left of the image. Each color is used to separate the two users for easy viewing. This visualizer mainly shows off the amount of messages received in one time, as can be seen with the orange and blue colors. Those colors move farther from the center as more messages are received at one time. The yellow color inside the orange and the darker blue inside the lighter blue can represent different materials found in each message, like hyperlinks, embedded images, or emoticons.
Other features of this visualizer is the soft glow seen behind the conversation lines. Looking at the image, Andy has a larger glow than Danny, which means that he talked more in this conversation than Danny did. This visualizer can also zoom in on a section of the spectrum to view and read the messages.
