Type of Degree The. Masters. programme. in. Sociology. [MA. (Sociology)],. shall. be. by. Coursework. and. Dissertation... The. dissertation. should. make. significant contribution to the knowledge and. formulation. in. social. explanation,. policy,. development. planning,. management,. evaluation,.as.well.as.research.methodologies. and.problem.conceptualisation.

Duration The. programme. lasts. for. two (2) years divided into four semesters. The first year comprises. of. two. (2). semesters,. followed. in. the second year by two (2) fieldwork-oriented semesters,..which.involve.dissertation.writing. and.presentation.

Programme Structure The.programme.is.run.on.a.Credit.Unit.basis,. where a) one Credit Unit is equivalent to one Contact.Hour.per.week.per.semester; b) one Contact Hour is equivalent to one hour.of.lecture.or..one.hour.of.tutorial.

The.programme.is.made.up.of.a.one.year.of. taught courses, and a second year of fieldwork and.dissertation...The.taught.component.shall. be.constituted.by.eight.courses;.four.core.and. four.electives.
