-Missing Host Based Mac Address (HBMA) -
If you are working on a replacement system board and it is
missing the Host Based Mac Address, you will not be able to
complete DMI and lock the system board. To resolve this
issue, please follow the steps outlined below:
1The Error Message
If the Host Based Mac Address is missing, you will receive the following error (see figure #1):
2Entering the Host Based Mac Address (HBMA)
1. Ensure the system board is unlocked. The Host Based Mac Address (HBMA) cannot be
entered if the system board is locked.
2. Boot system and press F10 to enter BIOS setup
3. Go to the Advanced tab. Scroll to HBMA tab and select Host Based Mac Address (see
figure #2). Please note, if HBMA is not supported, the tab will not be present.

  • Missing Host Based Mac Address (HBMA) -

If you are working on a replacement system board and it is

missing the Host Based Mac Address, you will not be able to

complete DMI and lock the system board. To resolve this

issue, please follow the steps outlined below:

1 The Error Message

If the Host Based Mac Address is missing, you will receive the following error (see figure #1):

  1. Ensure the system board is unlocked. The Host Based Mac Address (HBMA) cannot be entered if the system board is locked.
  2. Boot system and press F10 to enter BIOS setup
  3. Go to the Advanced tab. Scroll to HBMA tab and select Host Based Mac Address (see figure #2). Please note, if HBMA is not supported, the tab will not be present.

  1. Change HBMA selection from either “Disabled” or “Custom” to “System (see figure #3).
  2. Select the MAC Address to change
  3. Input the 12 digit HBMA, and select return.
