Answer Key The descriptive essay is a genre of essay that asks the student to describe something—object, person, place, experience, emotion, situation, etc. This genre encourages the student’s ability to create a written account of a particular experience. What is more, this genre allows for a great deal of / artistic freedom ( the goal of which is to paint an image that is vivid and moving in the mind of the reader).
Answer Key The sun shone brightly in the clear blue sky as I took a stroll through a park near my house. I saw an elderly man feeding breadcrumbs to the ducks by the pond. A young couple was flying a colourful kite, while their children played on the swings. I decided to sit on a bench and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Nearby, there was a small cafe, and I thought about having a cup of coffee. Inside, a barista greeted me with a friendly smile and asked, "Would you like a latte or an espresso?" I ordered a latte and sat at the window seat, sipping my drink and watching the people passing by. After finishing my coffee, I walked back to the pond and noticed that the elderly man had left, but the ducks were still swimming. I decided to join the children on the swings before heading home.
