Networking Activity 03
Q. Find out what should we need to consider when constructing a network and how it could be
practiced individually?
A. When constructing a network, we should consider points like its Performance, Reliability, Security and
Scalability.
Performance is a qualitative and quantitative process that measures and defines the performance level
of a specific network.
Reliability decides the frequency of failure, time taken to recover from failures, strength or good
condition of the network.
Security consists of polices and practices that are used in preventing unauthorized accesses or users.
Scalability describes the ability of a network to expand and manage the increase in demand.
It can be practiced individually by collecting a few items like, workstations/mobile phones, cables,
switch/hub, router, and a hardware firewall. By connecting these items to your workstation,
you are able to create a network.
Workstations/ mobile phones are used to communicate with other people in a network.
Cables are used to connect computers, printers, servers and other equipment in one's network.
Router connects us directly to the internet and share the connection via cable or Wi-Fi with
devices on the network.
Hardware Firewall creates a secure barrier between our network and the internet, blocking
security threats.
Switch/hub A switch/hub is a networking hardware that connects devices on a network.
