MOVEMENT
(1) The act or process of moving. (2) A change of place or position. (3)
The physical relocation of property from one area to another.
MOVEMENT
The primary concerns are ensuring the move is completed without damage
to the asset and the property record reflects an accurate location.
THE PROCESS OF MOVEMENT
When items are requisitioned from inventories held at a warehouse or
storage facility, the requisition is approved by an appropriate member of
management and forwarded manually or electronically to the warehouse
supervisor.
OFF-SITE MOVEMENTS
General Policy: property is not to be removed from authorized locations.
However, to facilitate the continuous flow of activities in support of
organizational objectives. Policy permits home or other off-site use of
equipment.
PROPERTY MOVEMENT DOCUMENTS
The movement of property must be authorized and documentation
generated to show changes in quantities and location. Movement
documents or electronic transactions must be posted to the property record
and retained in the property management files for audit purposes.
