Week 3 Reflection:
How hard was it to find a quantitative article related to your area of interest?
It was not hard at all to find information on my topic. The topic of pain and pain
management strategies is something that has been spoken about heavily. Pain journaling
however is not a common practice and is just now starting to gain attention.
Did you have any difficulty determining whether the articles you reviewed were
quantitative?
I had many classes now with chamberlain that cover quotative, qualitive, ratio… etc. I
feel that I had a leg up on the data types and identification due to the previous classes I
had.
Is the quantitative approach appropriate for your area of interest? Would you be
able to replicate the study you found?
The quotative approach is absolutely the correct method based on the type of study I am
covering. Pain and the methods of intervention deal with feelings, symptoms, and
interactions. This is something that cannot be labeled in numbers and must be described.
Data collection for this topic also coincides with how the patient can function better in
daily life and any struggles one might face.
