How Allama Iqbal re-energized the Indian Muslims to get a
separate state in his Allahabad Address in 1930?Justify your
answer with five relevant points.
Answer: Iqbal is considered to have given the vision for the creation
of Pakistan, whereas Jinnah is considered to be the one who shaped
this vision.In 1930, Iqbal delivered a Presidential Address to the 25th
Session of the All-India Muslim League in Allahabad where he
expressed his thoughts on Islam and nationalism.
1. In this speech Iqbal expressed the view of an independent state in
the predominantly Muslim provinces of northwestern India, thus
becoming the first politician to articulate what would be known as
a two-nation ideology, that Muslims are a separate nation and
therefore deserve independence.
2. Allama Iqbal explained to Muslims in India that there can be no
peace in the country unless they are recognized as a nation and
under a government program, Muslim units should be given the
same rights that should be given to the majority of Hindus. It was
the only way for Muslims and Hindus to prosper according to their
own cultural values.
3. Iqbal expressed fears that it would not only weaken nationalism,
the spiritual foundations of Islam and the Muslim community, but
that the majority of Hindus in India would stifle Islamic values,
culture and political influence.

Islam is a way of life in which the Muslims spend their lives with peace and harmony, it gives the principles to regulate and organize life and also form the identification of a separate nation within the Muslim psyche. Islam provides the Muslims with a separate identification and distinguishes them from others because its customs and traditions are different from other religions and this faith stresses upon monotheism and acceptance of the Holy Prophet’s principles. As far as nationalism is concerned, it can be said that nationalism comes through Islam in Muslims, Islam provides a different way of life.

Highlight the factors that became the reason of unsuccessful end of the Khilafat Movement? Justify your answer with five relevant points. 05 Marks Solution:

1. One of the main reasons of failure was that main leader of Khilafat Movement; Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar was arrested and imprisned.

2. One other reason was Chauri Chaora incident in which a

lot of Police men were burnt to death.

3. The Turks also abolished the caliphate as they too

wanted Turkey to be a nation instead of empire.

4. When Khilafat Movement reached at its success, the

Hindus especially Mr. Gandhi gave up from movement

and leaved the Muslims alone and caused the failure of

Movement.
