FITT PRINCIPLES

F โ€“ Frequency = how often (3x or more days a week then 30-45 min./1 hour a day) I โ€“ Intensity = how easy/hard an exercise is T โ€“ Time = how long / duration of the exercise T โ€“ Type = what kind PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PYRAMID Guide for adults to engage in Physical Activity TRAINING PRINCIPLES

  1. Overload = pushing, increase / higher than the normal
  • A demand placed on the body greater than it is accustomed to.
  1. Specificity = specific (like the FITT - type principle)
  • How you train will directly affect your exercise response.
  1. Progression = progress / continually / improvement
  • Change in overload in response to adaptation.
  1. Reversibility = back to zero (occurs after training stops) Avoid Activity
  • Minimally Aerobic Exercise
  • Regularly Recreational Activity
  • 2-3 times a week Leisure Activity
  • Often Anaerobic Exercise
  • 3-5 times a week Day to Day Activity โ€“ as often as possible
  • Habitually
