Some teachers favor selective students and the other ones, even though they put all their efforts, still they don’t get

grades. Those students then say “what’s the purpose of studying when after all the effort you still don’t get anything” so, they simply quit studying and just go with the flow.

METHODOLOGY:

We took interview of different students facing different kinds of pressures. Some were facing the pressure due to grades, some due to jealousy, some due to favoritism, and some were facing the pressure of their parents implementing their choices on their children. At first it was hard to find such students because no one was willing to tell their personal stories and to tell what peer pressures they were currently facing. When we asked our questions, students ignored us to the level they possibly could. Some took them as a joke. Those were the ones who don’t feel the pain and are pretty much far away from all the pressures. They didn’t answer properly which was a great hurdle for us. Those who feel the pain and have experienced or were experiencing peer pressures on a daily basis gave us the answers seriously. Such students were of much help for us. We went to different classes. Juniors and our class mates cooperate with us to some extent but seniors didn’t even bother to answer properly as if it would be a disgrace to their personality. This is how we gather a little information on peer pressure and some of the personal stories of students facing a lot of pressures in their lives.

ANALYSIS:

The data was collected through questionnaires, and thoroughly analyzed according to the research objectives of the study. A total of 30 respondents were surveyed. The results show that female respondents were more into this problem than the male ones. Most of the respondents indicated that they knew the meaning of peer pressure of which most of them were aware of it existing in real life as they had personally experienced it. The rest indicated they were not aware of peer pressure. The respondents had different feelings about the effects they get from peer pressure. Most of the respondents have faced the pressure due to grades. Even though they study really hard still they couldn’t get enough marks to satisfy themselves and their parents. Then the get scolded by their parents. Such students get into so much depression that they couldn’t bear the pressure of studies anymore and they lose their caliber level or they totally leave their studies and don’t even bother to try. Almost 5-6 of our respondents were in this category. One of them was fighting with depression. Another is the factor or favoritism. There are certain teachers who favor selective students and the other students, even though they try to achieve good, couldn’t get so. Even in our department and in our class there are cases of favoritism. Boys think male teachers favor girls and it is true to some extent (not all male teachers do this). Girls on the other hand said that the ones who are attention seeker get the attention of teachers and they are favored by teachers.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 First to identify the type of pressure.

 Provide guidance and counseling within the peer group.

 Encourage people and give them know how of the drastic effects of peer pressure.

 Parents should be counselled about their children and the children should be free to

choose their own field.
