  2. Find the equation through the point (1, 4) and parallel to 2y + x = 12. Sketch a graph showing both lines and the point (1, 4).
  1. A student club has 10 boys and 18 girls in it. A three person committee with at least one girl is to be formed. How many different such committees are possible?
  2. Draw a box and whisker plot for the data 7, 12 , 8 , 19 , 13 , 14 , 10 , 9 , 18.
  1. The speed of sound is 760 mph. If lightning is observed and then thunder is heard t seconds later, explain why d = t/5 is the approximate distance to the lightning strike in miles.
  2. Professor Infinity gives you ten coins and tells you to do an experiment of flipping all ten of them and recording the number of heads. He then tells you to repeat that experiment over and over again, until you have done it one million times. Sketch a possible histogram of your data.

  2. Six years ago, Buffy was half the age that Boris will be three years from now. Use algebra to express that relationship. Be explicit.
