Your thesis does not have to be like this, but it can help to think about a thesis real
fast.
A thesis needs to be strong, it needs to be arguable. SO do not use obvious
statements or things that people tend to agree with easily.
Example:
Because many children are unable to vaccinate due to illness, we must require
that all healthy and able children be vaccinated in order to have herd immunity
Strong because everyone has an opinion on this topic since the pandemic.
How to make arguments quickly:
- Use parts of the statement. That way you can work towards your conclusion
easily.
- Use the strongest as last. If you build up towards the end, the strongest
argument will convince the reader the last and therefore the best. You always
remember best what’s seen or read last. (writing plan!!!)
- Use set examples to support your argument. The easier the example fits, the
better you can work with it and conclude in your paragraph.
Three valuable arguments plus examples could become:
1. Illnesses have been around for ages. But with improving medicines the life
expenctancy is increasing. Use polio in Africa for example. Stress the
importance of the vaccinations and how polio does not exist in Europe
2. All healthy children need to be vaccinated. This might seem harsh, but we
already give them shots from a young age onwards. So why is it a problem
now? Use example of vaccinations for babies and adequate response to new
children’s diseases.
3. Herd immunity is essential. Refer to the need to meet friends and have a
social life. Use example of the lockdown and its results amongst youngsters.
That would have been prevented If we had herd immunity.
All three arguments can be made easily and fast. Plus give you a good path to a solid
essay as they all connect with one another.
