Hello Dear Colleagues,
My name is Samira and my colleague, Maryam and I will be exploring the
“Experiences of Patients with Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia and their
Caregivers during the COVID-19 Pandemic." We will be doing a rapid review
and will be investigating the comprehensive overview of the existing
literature on the impact of the pandemic on this vulnerable population,
including changes in healthcare access, social support, and daily life
routines.
We will investigate the following question: "How did patients with Alzheimer's
disease and dementia, and their caregivers, adapt to the COVID-19
pandemic, and what were the key challenges and opportunities that
emerged during this time?"
Our rapid review will synthesize existing research on the experiences of
patients with Alzheimer's disease and dementia, and their caregivers, during
the pandemic, including studies on healthcare utilization, social isolation,
mental health, and quality of life.
In this review, we will explore the ways in which patients with Alzheimer's
disease and dementia, and their caregivers, coped with the pandemic's
disruptions to their daily lives. By understanding the challenges and
opportunities that emerged during this time, we can identify opportunities for
improving healthcare services, supporting caregivers, and enhancing the
well-being of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
