white-water rafting in canoes to thousands of first-time customers. A
survey of 50 randomly picked white-water canoers showed that 23 did
not want to repeat the experience.
a. Construct, showing all values substituted into your formula,
a 99% confidence interval for the true proportion of canoers
who did not wish to canoe the rapids a second time. The
confidence interval should be given in interval notation.
b. Interpret the confidence interval given in part a. Remember to interpret the result in full
english sentences (no notation, use story problem situation with units of measure where
applicable).
c. State in detail, citing values from the story problem situation, all of the reasons why we
are allowed to construct the confidence interval from part a.

  1. (7 pts. total) DO COLLEGE STUDENTS NEED AN ALARM CLOCK? According to Vitality magazine, 52% of Americans say they don't need an alarm clock to wake up in the morning. They say they either wake up on time naturally, or wake up before their alarm clocks go off. A college student thinks the percentage of college students who wake up on time without the help of an alarm clock is lower than the national percentage of 52%. In order to test this hypothesis, she takes a random sample of college students and finds that out of 150 students sampled, 72 say they don't need the help of an alarm clock to wake up in the morning. Is this convincing evidence that fewer than 52% of college students don't need the help of an alarm clock to wake up in the morning?

State the appropriate H 0 and H a to test this suspicion. Carry out the test at the 5% level,

showing all steps clearly labeled, including giving the test statistic value derived from its formula with substituted values, and including the calculated P-value showing proper inputs to normalcdf.
