The article, “The Future of Psychology: Connecting Mind to Brain”, by Lisa Barrett talks
about a possible solution to the problem that involves two suggestions. The problem addressed in this
article is that the two are not real in the same way, creating the mind–brain correspondence problem.
Lisa Barrett started the article by including some quotations related to the topic she will
tackle and questions to be pondered by the readers. She also discussed the complex psychological
states such as(emotion(and(cognition(an be thought of as constructed events that can be causally
reduced to a set of more basic, psychologically primitive ingredients that are more clearly respected
by the brain. In addition, complex psychological categories like emotion and cognition are the

science. Based on “Clear’s Law of Recurrence”, (human brains do not dispassionately look on the
world and carve nature at its joints. We make self-interested observations about the world in all
manner of speaking. The writer then concluded the article with methods on how to change
someone’s mind. The writer believes that developing friendship with those who have different ideas
or beliefs from you, sharing a meal with them, giving them book as a gift, and being kind to them are
some good ways on how to change people’s minds.
Based on the article, the problem is quite complex but the message is clear. The
writer also included several good and solid evidences which made me agree, as a reader,
to his point in the article. It is true that, when we argue to win, we tend to forget that the goal
is to connect with the other side, collaborate with them, befriend them, and integrate them
into our side.
Overall, the article is well–written. Even though the problem addressed in the article
is not that simple, the message that the writer wants to convey through the article can be
easily identified, given that the evidences are understood by the readers. The article also
serves as a great reminder to us that, whenever we try to argue with people who have
different beliefs from us, we should keep in mind that our intention should be working and
connecting with them rather than outrightly breaking down their reality.
