Materials This activity uses a Power Point that contains two YouTube videos - one about an Orthodox Easter service in Russia and the other about specific ways that Russians celebrate Easter, vocabulary and comprehension questions for the second video, pictures, a sentence-correction task and an essay- writing activity. Instructions for Teachers You may show the second video (in Russian) several times if needed. While watching it, have the students look at the attached PDF file that contains the vocabulary words found on pages 3 and 4 of the Power Point. The students may either do the essay-writing activity in class or it may be assigned as homework if needed. Instructions for Learners The vocabulary words that are to be used with the second video have been included as a PDF file so that you can look at them while watching the video. This Power Point also contains audio; therefore, try pronouncing the sentences, phrases and words after you hear them. At the end of the activity, test your knowledge by translating the vocabulary into English.
