Introduction My experiment design will use three pots planted with same quantity or amount of the following: mung seeds, soil, goat’s manure as the natural fertilizer, water, and air. Only differs on the sunlight exposure of each pot. The pots are named Pot A whereas has a direct sun exposure, Pot B where placed in a shade but still can be reach by the sun, and Pot C who has placed in the dark place with zero sunlight. The mung seeds are planted, and the final data or observations with findings are be taken after two weeks since it was planted. Objective: a) To test the proposed hypothesis. b) To observe and gain data for the fulfillment of this activity. c) To have a better understanding and appreciation of the result of the absence of the variable, the sunlight exposure of each pot. Materials and Resources Needed : Mung Bean Seeds Goat’s Manure Pot Soil water Measuring Tools Empty Box Pen and papers for labeling Proposed hypothesis
After the seeds planted, the germination process will take place after
twenty-four hours since it wasn’t soaked in water to germinate. Two days after
the seeds starts to have roots and the next day after the sprout comes. In the
fourth day the leaves come out of the mung beans seed shell and the next few
days it starts to grow it’s stem.
Upon the first few days you are not able to differentiated the difference
since it’s just sprouting, also because they are given the same amount of water,
soil, and fertilizer but after five days you can see truly the perks of the pot with
sunlight exposure. Question; how could I say such a thing? Well, all pot grew and
sprouted the same time especially to the Pot A and B but Pot C also manage to
catch up with their growth. Since Pot C don’t have or had least sunlight among
them the water and the moist of the soil won’t evaporate so the plants also grew
well because of the richness of water.
Fast forward after two weeks, the mung beans on the different pots has
shown some characteristics that’s unlike each pot due to the absence or control
of sunlight. In the next pages are the effects and characteristics of the mung
beans with direct, controlled, and no sunlight exposure.
PS: The mung beans are planted on Feb. 1, 2021 and I haven’t prepared or took a picture while doing the experimental produre, I ony manage to take photos of the final results.
Pot A (with direct sunlight)
The mung beans in this pot have a green leafs with an
average size. Has a thick and greenish stem color that strong and
would be break by the strong blow of wind, it has the height of six
inches measured from the soil it had planted to the leaves of the
sprouts. As the result of having direct sunlight it had grew healthy
and strong stem as what I expected.
Pot C (with no sunlight exposure)
With no sunlight the mung beans have yellow-green to
yellow and below average size of leafs, an indication of light
deprivation. It looks not healthy because of the ten inches thin
white stem which could break by a blow of wind. The sprout
direction is not unified since they are finding source of light which
is deprived on them.
Conclusion
I conclude that a seed could grow without a source of light but with the soil
nutrients and water it needed to a sprout. However, those who are been deprived
with sunlight are not healthy, week, and have the slightest possibility of surviving
into a grown plant.
Sunlight or any source of light has the big role for a plant to grow healthy
and strong like humans we also need to be outside some time to have sunlight
for us to avoid to develop some illness. Like the disease we could get caused by
the lack of sunlight: rickets and osteomalacia (source, Google). Humans also
needed it for them to do photosynthesis, the process by which green plants and
certain organisms transform light energy into chemical energy.
