The seminar provided me with insights that are beneficial to the cultivation of my role as a part
of the society. It educated me on the ways of how communities manage their waste in order to
segregate their materials for convenient and environmental- friendly advantages. The speaker
emphasized the importance of research in determining effective approaches to lessen the
vulnerabilities of our habitat. Moreover, the seminar tackled about the significance of youth
empowerment in the participatory development of communities. The youth’s involvement is a
vital role in disseminating information about how to alleviate the threats of their community as
they are known to be active participants of social media, and other platforms of communication.
The knowledge instilled to the youth is also a strong foundation of the society’s future that is
more united.
As a personal thought, I consider the seminar relevant for nurturing my prior knowledge about
community development. It reminded me of our last thesis topic which involves the disaster risk
reduction management of a barangay in Rizal. Our thesis recommended that strong
communication and cooperation between stakeholders and the sectors of the community
(community leaders, women, and the youth) is needed for the implemented strategies to be
effective; and to also establish a resilient and independent partner community. The short seminar
helped me realize that as part of the youth, I should be empowered and well- educated with
regards to the concerns that our environment face today. Our resources provide us ways on how
to approach these problems and some may be limited, but if there’s a will, there’s a way. Our
planet nurtures billions of people and these habitants are ought to protect and conserve the Earth
in return.
