Sub Plan-9/16/22
Congratulations: today you are Mr. Spartz! Today I only teach chemistry to the Juniors during
6th and 8th blocks (Plus NeW and WINN) which means that you will have two free blocks today.
I do not see this being a problem with the students that I have today but if a student is being
sassy or rude to you just send them to the office and write their name down. If any of the
classes as a whole are acting this way let me know and I will make sure it never happens again.
Thank you so much for helping out and being a Sub. I appreciate you coming in and the kids
should to!
To reach the office you just need to dial 1302 then press CALL.
Chem 6th and 8th block
1. Start off with attendance, (I do not have a seating chart for either of these blocks)
a. If a student does not tell you they are going to use the bathroom before the bell
rings just mark them as absent or tardy unexcused.
2. Tell students to get their reviews out from last class and hand them in to you. You can
start a pile on my desk or set them on the back table. Remind them it is worth 3 bonus
points!
a. If a student needs to run to their locker to grab it that is fine just tell them it cuts
into their study time. (Also tell them the have 5 min to get back)
3. After you have collected everyone’s review give them 10 min to study(cram). They will
need to know:
a. 1. Lab tools
2. Lab Safety Rules
3. The NFPA Diamond (what the colors mean, what the lowest safety rating is as
well as the highest)
4. Periodic table terms (Octet rule, valence electrons, group, period, family, ect.)
5. How to draw simple Lewis Dot Structures
6. How to draw molecular Lewis Dot Structures
b. Also let them know there will be 15 multiple choice questions, 5 tool questions,
15 fill in the blank, 5 simple lewis dot structures, & 5 molecular lewis dot
structures
4. After ten minutes begin handing out the tests to the students. All the pods are in groups
of fours. I give students who are kiddy-corner from each other the same version of the
test and students right next to each other different versions of the test. (See Diagram)

  1. While students are taking the exam just walk around, if you notice anyone cheating feel free to take their test and I will talk to the student on Monday.
  2. If all students finish the exam and there are 15 min or more left in class you can play this video as an introduction to the next unit! https://youtu.be/S_k0kr2eZSQ a. To show the video you will need to turn on the projector using the white remote. b. Then pull up the video on Youtube. c. That should do it! If you need any assistance have Mr. Garien or one of the students help you out! NeW
  3. I am not totally sure if you will have access to the slides for today; Renee Farrell should be in the room to help you, she can lead if you are not comfortable! a. If the link below does not work, no sweat, just head into WINN time. Don’t let students leave until the bell rings for A WINN though. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/ 1voGDHPiwh_LCnk2jAkx9hMfSjgEUBMQlAmApXwCsdCs/edit?usp=sharing WINN You eat C lunch wit my students at 12:05 :( I normally eat down in the teachers lounge, but feel free to stay and eat in my room if you want!
  4. Students in my WINN can only leave if they have been requested (or need to go to the bathroom), if they say they have been requested just ask them to pull it up quickly and then send them down.
  5. When students leave to run to the bathroom let them know to be back quickly (around 5 min)
  6. If any students who are not in my WINN come down just let them know I am not here and to send them away and come back Monday. If you have any questions tomorrow please feel free to give me a call at (605) 868-1288.
