Running head: TAT2 TASK 2 – Instructional product 1 TAT2 Task 2 – Instructional Product Western Governor’s University

Introduction Many school districts are purchasing Canvas for their faculty to set up online education pages in order to accentuate their teaching experience and allow for teachers and students to have access to content regardless of physical presence. Canvas is a learning management system (LMS) and is very user-friendly for all involved once it is all set up. It initially come with great instructions for an instructor to follow in order to set their profiles up, however, when a district has an administrator set up the districts Canvas platform according to their standards, this removes Canvas’ user-friendly introduction to set up, leaving many educators confused on how to set up their Canvas pages. This instruction is created with those in mind who may be required to set up a Canvas page and do not have the time to research how to do so, or maybe don’t have the technological “know how” to do so on their own. Instructional Goal Upon completion of this unit, the learner will be able to set up their Canvas profile with confidence and ease. Performance Objectives Objective one: Given the terminology worksheet and PowerPoint presentation, learners will score at least 9 out of 11 on a Terminology Quiz. Objective two: Given the information on the electronic specifications and profile features discussed in this lesson, learners will score at least 8 out of 10 on a quiz regarding the electronic specs and the features discussed in the lesson. Objective three: Given the information on specific profile features, learners will score at least 8 out 10 on a quiz regarding the features discussed in the lesson.

hours for the unit by saving the digital files to their device or printing them. For lessons two and three, there will be constructive activities followed by optional collaboration within discussion groups when learners have issues with setting up or they have questions about how to set up a specific feature of their profile.Resources needed for this unit are an electronic device compatible with Canvas (one that can access the internet). Optional resources would be paper, a printer, a projector and screen, audio accessories, index cards, and a folder/binder. Description of Each Lesson Plan for the Unit Lesson one description: Learner will be given electronic access to printouts and presentation prior to class, either electronically through email or through a Canvas course if the instructor decides to set up a course. Learner will either have a printout of the terminology worksheet or have it open in order to fill it in electronically while going through the PowerPoint presentation for lesson one. Then learners will be guided to doing a matching exercise and will utilize Quizlet for extra reinforcement in learning the terms. Once all of that is completed, learners will be given a Canvas Profile Terminology quiz in which they must score at least 9 out of 11 correct. Completed worksheets should be stored in the learners file/efile for future reference. Lesson two description: Learner will be given electronic access to printouts and the presentation prior to class, either electronically through email or through a Canvas course if the instructor decides to set up a course in their LMS. Learner will have either a printout or electronic access to the electronic specifications sheet and the presentation that the instructor sent prior to the lesson. While going through the PowerPoint presentation for lesson two, the learner will make notes of the important information regarding the electronic specifications and the profile features covered. After the presentation is complete, the learner will be given a Canvas Electronic Specifications/Profile Features quiz in which they must score at least 8 out of 10 correct.

Completed worksheets can be stored in the learners file/efile for future reference. After the quiz is passed learners will be instructed to implement their new knowledge by applying it to their Canvas page and then sharing the resulting changes with their instructor. They will also be encouraged to join a discussion either in person, or in Canvas, to discuss any concerns or questions. Lesson three description: Learner will be given electronic access to any printouts and the presentation prior to class, either electronically through email or through a Canvas course if the instructor decides to set up a course in their LMS. Learner will have either a printout or electronic access to the presentation that the instructor sent prior to the lesson. While going through the PowerPoint presentation for lesson three, the learner will take notes regarding the profile features covered. After the presentation is complete, the learner will be given a Canvas Profile Features quiz in which they must score at least 8 out of 10 correct. Student Performance Assessment Description Lesson one assessment: The assessment is Quiz 1. It consists of 11 terms and learners must score at least 9 out of 11 correct within two attempts before having to repeat the lesson again. Lesson two assessment: The assessment is Quiz 2. It consists of 10 questions and learners must score at least 8 out of 10 correct within two attempts before having to repeat the lesson again.Learner will also be expected to begin working on their profile page and show their instructor the progress they have made.

How to Set Up the Three Technology Resources Selected for this Unit Resource One: Quizlet: This resource will be given to the learners in Lesson One. The Quizlet link provided is a direct link to the Quizlet designed for this unit. The link is at the bottom of Lesson One with the other lesson resources. It should be sent to learners, or added to your Canvas course with instructions for learners to go in and practice their terms for at least ten minutes before attempting to take the Quiz. Resource Two: PowerPoint Presentation Audio: This resource is provided in Lessons Two and Three. The audio has already been embedded on each of the slides in the presentations for Lessons two and three. If instructors/learners choose to utilize the audio for the course in a classroom, they will need to ensure that they have speakers connected to their laptop before beginning the presentation. Resource Three: Canvas LMS Facebook Page: This resource will be given to the learners in Lesson Three. During the follow up work, the learners will go to the Canvas LMS Facebook Posts Page that has a link at the bottom of Lesson Plan Two. Give the learners the link and have them watch one video on the Canvas LMS page and then send you the link and a summary of the content of the video. Instructional Methods and Strategies Used Quizlet was selected because Lesson One is a cognitive lesson. There is terminology that must be committed to memory for the learner to be able to complete Lesson’s two and three with greater ease. By adding Quizlet, not only are the learners gaining more practice, but there are fun games that the learner can play that will aide in committing the terms to memory. PowerPoint Audio feature was selected as the research-based resource because Lessons Two and Three are fairly intricate and some learners may be taking the course online independently
