In a dramatic turn of events yesterday, the crew of the exploratory vessel, The Odyssey, reported they have found the crucial step needed to free themselves from the ongoing Suffesian threat. After days of escalating tension, the group finally realized what was required to secure their return home and potentially save Earth in the process. The breakthrough came when the team located a mysterious machine believed to be responsible for rendering the planet’s inhabitants unusually lethargic. It was responsible for controlling the people of Suffes, but also the ray which has been stealing minds here on Earth. Lead analysts Helen and Karen figured out what was really wrong with the Suffesians. Karen was the first to identify the anomaly, declaring, “That’s it! I knew something was missing. Work! These people don’t work” (Myers 52). Her discovery prompted further investigation by Ron, captain of the ship, who confirmed the extent of the issue. “They have nothing to do. No work. No worries. No wishes. Everything is done for them by those computers. They eat, sleep, exercise, and have entertainment,” he reported (Myers 52). The crew used this information to discover why acid rain has been sent here to Earth. It’s because the Suffesians are so “programmed” to do the same thing everyday, that they needed a new source of entertainment. This came in the form of human minds. The crew has decided they’re going to attack the computers and save Earth once and for all. Their plan is to “launch a full scale attack” according to Ron (Myers 53). This attack is set to happen in the morning at 0800; that’s when the machines are least active. Before Ron and his crew save Earth, we’d like to mourn Greg and Mano. To everybody’s dismay, Greg and Mano have sadly had their brains stolen by the ray on the first day of the mission. Just days ago they were excited to help save Earth from the rain, just to become a victim to it themselves. The crew onboard the Odyssey have run into an issue however which could delay them further. As if death wasn’t a big enough setback itself, confused Suffesians continue to walk in the line of fire. It would be easy to force them to the side, or even kill some of them, but that’s not the goal. The goal is to kill little to no life, for if they do the computers may attack them or
worse, attack Earth with maximum force. One wrong move, and everyone aboard the Odyssey , as well as everyone on Earth, is doomed. The steps that are going to be taken by the crew members to save Earth will be as follows: ● Locate the weakest part on both computers ● Fire as close as possible to the computers in a safe area ● Have the computers overheat, then overcool drastically, changing the weather on the planet If all goes to plan, but more specifically, the last step, the computers will collapse on themselves trying to change the weather, before attacking each other and blast Suffes into dust. All must stay hopeful here on Earth and out there in space. We’ll continue to update everybody on the situation of the crew, but the whole world will know when Earth has been saved because the rain will have stopped.
