1. Comportment
-The understanding and application of nursing core values and actions.
- Coming to school, clinical, and lab with the appropriate clothes whether it be lab coat
and business casual, uniform (scrubs), or regular clothing.
-Always keep in mind to act professionally, speak appropriately, and know that you will
be looked at in high regard so you must play the part.
2. Competence
- After learning the main objectives for each course, being able to apply knowledge in
clinicals and other healthcare scenarios.
-Everything learned will be evaluated when applying knowledge to real life situations.
- We are all accountable for keeping up with education and our competence of what we
are learning.
3. Caring
- Creating empathy and space for clients by learning and understanding about their
backgrounds, at home life, health disparities.
-Being informative and educating clients as much as possible.
-You are your client's biggest advocate and a nurse should always believe that their
client knows best.
4. Collaboration
- Working with other colleagues and facilities to find solutions for health disparities.
-Maintaining trust and respect when collaborating.
-Making sure to have shared- decision making and get multiple ideas and opinions about
concerns and interests for a collaboration.
5. Curiosity
- As nurses we are life- long learners so we should always be asking questions (WHY?).
-Curiosity and critical thinking creates better reasoning and full understanding of topics.
-There is always room for growth and evolution with health protocols so we should
respectfully question what we are learning and see if there is a better way of doing
something.
