Solve for Tomorrow-challenge
Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow encourages young minds to envision and realise innovative
solutions that can resolve challenges and risks that their communities face.
Thanks to technology, we are increasingly discovering new, cheap, innovative ways to improve people’s
health and wellbeing. Moreover, collecting personal health data is more accessible than ever. This has a
double benefit. Residents not only have a good view of their neighbourhood, which can produce useful
data, but from their involvement sometimes also live healthier.
It is clear that technology still offers a lot of potential. UGent and Samsung challenge you - together with
your fellow students – to work out a good idea, develop a prototype, or come up with an improvement to
an existing technology. Based on the following challenge:
Think broadly, yet feasible. Technology is not only useful to map the health and welfare situation of
neighbourhoods, it also offers us the tools to do something about it ourselves. Just think apps to
strengthen contact between neighbours, algorithms to optimise traffic flow or games to move around
local residents.
We will help you along the process, problem definition, brainstorming sessions and pitch trainings are
part of the Solve for Tomorrow trajectory. In collaboration with BlueHealth Innovation Center and “Durf
Ondernemen!”.
The final pitch is due in April 2022. During a pitch event, a combined jury existing of
representatives of the UGent and Samsung will select the winning project. The
winner will receive one of the latest Samsung Galaxy devices! Besides that,
all participants will receive a certificate useful for your resume and a unique
network opportunity.
Registration to participate is open until November 19.
