The organization’s growth and the level of complexity in functioning have made the people to realize the facts. You can now question how such enormous information is maintained? Since the environment turns competitive and is ever changing, fixation of standard for an exception becomes exercise at least for the people in higher echelons of the organizations. In this unit you will study about the evolution of MIS and significance of MIS in the organization. You will study the impact of MIS on any business. You will also know the different phases of development of MIS and finally you will know the hardware support needed for MIS. MIS is an integrated system which provides information support for decision making in the organization. There may be various definitions for MIS, but you can see all of them defining MIS as a decision making methodology which helps in control.
