WEB ASSIGN : Homework Assignments
Beginning the second week we will utilize online homework called Web-
Assign operated by North Carolina State University. LSU makes no
money from this process. The cost per student varies depending on how
packaged with text or bought alone. You will be asked to use a credit
card or to buy an access code which can be obtained at the LSU
bookstore. You have a grace period to start your homework before you
have to pay, so don’t miss your first assignment. Your account will be
initially set up for you with your PAWS email username as your
WebAssign username and password is your LSU ID# .
Log onto the system @ www.webassign.net/student.html using your
username, institution (lsu) and password. Change the password
immediately to something you can remember during the semester. After you
have signed up and paid the fee, you can log onto the system and download
your specific homework assignment (everyone has a different set of numbers)
When you download the assignment, pay attention to 3 things—how many
submissions you’re allowed, the points allowed for each question (some will
be worth 0 pts, so don’t do them) and when it is DUE. It will always be due
@11:59 pm of the date due. Web-assign is in control; I’m not. It will lock
you out and not let you submit your answers even 1 second past the deadline
or after the allowed # of tries. So work carefully and don’t wait until the last
minute. You can get help on the assignment from the consulting tutors in
Nicholson hall or from classmates or me, but you must do the math yourself
and submit your own answers. Web-Assign gives instant feedback and you
can rework problems. YOU MUST BE CAREFUL TO USE SIGNIFICANT
FIGURES (So submit 3 sig figs all of the time). Web-Assign grades your last
submission only. I will be able to check the progress of every student and if
you have problems in any way—signing up, sig figs, or submitting answers,
let me know, BUT IT MUST BE BEFORE THE ASSIGNMENT
