The major problem I currently experience in my daily life is managing my time effectively between schoolwork and being a stay-at-home mom to multiple children. I often feel overwhelmed trying to keep up with all of my responsibilities at home while also completing my assignments. Having four kids who need constant attention, ranging in age from 12 to 3, makes it feel nearly impossible to stay on top of everything. Finding quiet time to focus on reading or written work is especially difficult. At times, I become stressed and worry that I may fall behind in my classes because of these challenges. After reflecting more on my daily routine, I realized there are several factors contributing to my struggles with time management. With children at different stages of life and learning, each day can be unpredictable, especially since I always put their needs first. There are times when unexpected situations come up, causing me to delay my schoolwork until later in the day. By then, I am often exhausted from everything that has already happened. Although I try to follow a structured study schedule, what works well one day may not work at all the next due to the unpredictable nature of caring for children. I have come up with a few possible solutions that could help me dedicate enough time to complete my assignments. One strategy I currently use is breaking each assignment into smaller, more manageable sections. Another option is asking family members or close friends for help when all of my children are home. Since three of them are in school and one stays home during the day, having extra help would allow me to focus on the more challenging parts of my work without constant interruptions. After considering these options, I decided to continue dividing my assignments into smaller tasks and to start planning specific days and times when someone can come over to help with the kids. This way, I can concentrate on the more difficult parts of my schoolwork while they are occupied. I also plan to set aside time in the early morning and later in the evening, while my children are still asleep, so I can work without distractions. By making these adjustments, I hope to lower my stress and improve how I manage my time. Since beginning to make these changes, I have already noticed some improvement in both my stress levels and my schoolwork. I feel less overwhelmed and more organized now that I have a better plan in place and know I have time set aside for more time-consuming tasks. For this course, I am prepared to continue making adjustments that work best for each class. Overall, this assignment has helped me realize how important it is to plan ahead, while also understanding that not every plan will work the first time. Sometimes it is necessary to reevaluate and make changes until you find what works best for your situation.
