 Definition:

These clauses are used to modify a noun or a pronoun. It will be formed with a relative pronoun such as: Who Which / that Whose Where

  • (^) Which / that: Usage : Is used for people. Example: - This is the man who broke the window. - The actor who participated in the film is French. Usage : Is used for things and animals. Example: - This is the cake which Mary made. - The book that you have is mine.

  • (^) Non - defining clauses: Definition: Give extra Information about the noun but they are not essential. There fore, they are separated by commas. Example :
    • Juan , who is my best friend , loves to eat chocolates.
  • (^) Defining clauses: Definition: Give essential Information about the noun. They are not separated by commas. Example :
    • The girl whose family came from China is in my class this year.
