Hello, In English, there are two ways to compare things.
1.) Add -ER to one-syllable adjectives (short >> shorter) or to adjectives that end in -Y (pretty >> prettier).
Ex: I am taller than my brother.
2.) Use [MORE + ADJECTIVE] with longer adjectives (beautiful >> more beautiful).
Ex: Cookies are more delicious than onions.
Remember that we never use the two ways together. (For example, it is INCORRECT to say "more
faster".)
When we use the comparative, it must be clear what we are comparing something to.
Ex: My car is faster than my brother's car.
We use superlative adjectives quite often when we want to know what is the most or least of something.
This is the extreme degree of comparison. With one or two-syllable words, we simply add "-est" to the
end.
Ex: She is the prettiest. If an adjective has three or more syllables, we use: most + adjective.
Ex: She is the most beautiful. We do NOT use most + word + -est. "I am the most tallest" is INCORRECT.
When we use the superlative, we are comparing something to everything else in that category, not just
one or two other things.
Ex. "SSC makes the fastest car in the world." funny-adjective. "My dad's jokes are funny." funnier-
comparative adjective.
"My uncle's jokes are even funnier than my dad's jokes." the funniest-superlative adjective
"My cousin's jokes are the funniest!"
